Join the annual Swim Around Key West. Every year, Key West is host to the Swim Around Key West, a 12.5 mile endurance swimming race. Every June hundreds of hopefuls descend upon Key West to compete against the best swimmers and against themselves. It really is an endurance swim. From hardened athletes to adventurous novices, the race entices all sorts of competitors.

The race, which will take swimmers around the island of Key West, was begun in 1977 as one woman’s test of her ability to swim around the island of Key West. Now, it’s an annual event with people coming from all over the world to participate. There are three categories: solo swimmers, two-person relay, three-person relay. Try to beat the fastest time (3:31:28), set in 1999, and win $1,000!
