Vandenberg Wreck

In 2009, a 1944 WWII warship was purposefully sunk, creating the world's 2nd largest artificial reef - and making one of the world’s best dive sites located right here in Key West. Swim with tropical fish, sea turtles, dolphins, and even a shark or two, as you navigate this deep sea jungle-gym. Perfect for all skill levels, the USS Vandenberg sits 7 miles offshore. At its deepest, the ship sits in 140 feet of water while the top areas of the ship are in waters only 40 feet deep.

Alexander's Wreck

Alexander’s Wreck is a 300 foot Navy Destroyer escort which sank in 1972. The USS Amesbury was intended to serve as an artificial reef, however she sank while en route to her planned ocean floor destination. The Amesbury has become a welcome spot for an abundance of marine life. A popular and easy wreck to dive, Alexander’s Wreck offers not only a fantastic place to observe aquatic life, but also the opportunity to explore visible deck guns and a variety of military artifacts which now call the Gulf their home.

Ten-Fathom Bar

Ten-Fathom Bar is one of the most dramatic dive sites in Key West. The drop begins at 25 feet and quickly drops to 130 feet, with the different depths showcasing a variety of marine life. The strong Gulf current around the drop off creates superb visibility, so have your waterproof camera ready – you’ll want to photograph the rare black coral and the giant, human-sized barrel sponges. The fish even know this is a popular destination in the Florida Keys, so don’t be surprised if a friendly grouper approaches you for a treat!

Swim With Dolphins

The highly trained staff at the Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key will guide you through your dolphin encounter. You can choose your level of interaction with the dolphins, ranging from a structured swim with a dolphin to entering their natural habitat and swimming with them. Or, you can partner with a dolphin artist and assist as your new finned friend paints a shirt for you!
